These terms govern your use of Hangout, a mobile application operated by Hangout Labs LLC ("Hangout," "we," "us"). By creating an account you agree to them.
Hangout sends text messages for account verification only. You will typically receive one message per sign-in or account-creation attempt. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of any purchase.
You must be 18 or older and able to form a binding contract. One account per person. You are responsible for what happens under your account, and for keeping access to your phone and email secure.
When you enter your phone number and request a verification code, you are consenting to receive that message from us. Codes expire in ten minutes.
Hangout helps you find real gatherings and go to them. Hangout does not organize, supervise, endorse, or vet the events posted by users, and does not conduct background checks on the people who attend them. You are responsible for your own safety and your own judgment. Meet in public, tell someone where you are going, and leave if something feels wrong.
You agree not to:
We screen certain content automatically and review reports. We may remove content, hide it, limit an account, or end it, at our discretion, to keep people safe.
What you post is yours. You grant us a limited license to store and display it inside Hangout so that the service can function. You are responsible for having the right to post it.
Hangout keeps an honest, permanent record of whether people show up to what they say they will. That record is generated from your own actions and is visible to people who share a hangout with you. It is append-only by design: entries are not removed on request, because other people's records depend on the same history.
You may stop using Hangout at any time and request deletion by emailing brock@usehangout.com. We may suspend or end an account that violates these terms or endangers others. Where we can do so safely, we will tell you why.
Hangout is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we may change or discontinue features.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Hangout Labs LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your interactions with other users or your attendance at any event. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service will not exceed one hundred US dollars ($100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Hangout Labs LLC from claims arising out of your use of the service, your content, or your conduct toward other people.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Harris County, Texas.
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will say so in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use Hangout after that means you accept the updated terms.
